Science Fair is an event at the International Course that allows students to present their findings of science projects to teachers, judges, parents, and students. Since its inception in 2012, the International Course has seen growth in interest among students and parents.
Prior to the fair, students do research and create projects that are aligned with the year’s theme. They present their findings on power point that includes the Aim, Hypothesis, Materials, Method, Results, and Conclusion, along with a sample to show. Judges are invited on the day of the fair to assess students’ knowledge of the project, and rate their overall performance on content knowledge, problem solving, and organization.
Regardless of ability, students work as a team in doing research and experiments along with power point and video making. The key outcome of this event would be to promote interest in students toward science while improving skills in scientific inquiries.
With English as the language of communication, winners of the event are found to be well spoken, knowledgeable, and fluent with concepts associated with their projects. The final presentations followed by awards of winners, best speaker, and best display, makes it an annual event the International Course looks forward to at the end of the academic year.
