On January 15th Gyosei International Junior High School held its 2nd Annual Spelling Bee. Mr Davis of the international department once again took the helm as the competitions announcer, and lead the participating students through 8 grueling, fiercely competitive rounds. All 11 students put up a strong fight, but it was J1I’s Hozumi Ruri who managed to out-spell the other 10 spellers (including her sister) to claim a well-deserved victory. Ruri will now go on to compete in the Japan Times national spelling bee in Tokyo in March where she will be up against the best young spellers in the country. We wish her all the best in the Tokyo competition.
